Alabama is a state rich in history and cultural heritage, playing a pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement as home to the site of significant events such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr., and the Selma to Montgomery March. The state is also a leader in space exploration, with Huntsville's U.S. Space & Rocket Center being a key site for the development of the rocket that took astronauts to the moon​. You won't want to leave Earth though, since Alabama also boasts diverse natural beauty, from the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf Coast's pristine beaches. Additionally, the state has a vibrant musical heritage, particularly in country, blues, and jazz, with Muscle Shoals being renowned for its historic recording studios​ where many legendary artists like Aretha Franklin and the Rolling Stones recorded hits.
